Cat Habitat caters to those discerning felines looking for cat accessories that are made in Australia, are high quality, stylish, and fashionable but which will also suit their human’s home. Run by two feline entrepreneurs, Pussa and Soph, they are assisted in the business by their Pet Parents, especially during the cat nap hours.
Pussa and Soph had grown tired of the “fun” toys the Pet Parents used to bring home in the vain hope of sharing quality time together. New purchases were sniffed at and then dismissed as inadequate with a slow glance and a return to their previously interrupted cat nap. After years of rejection the Pet Parents came up with their own cat toys, starting with a basic version of what is now the Cat Teaser range.
Invigorated by Pussa and Soph’s new found interest in the various toys they created, the Pet Parents went on to design and make other cat toys, and a collection of cat beds (frankly, the bright pink igloo with fluffy mice that had been in use, never really matched the rest of their home furnishings). The Pet Parents have been told by Pussa and Soph to continue to expand the product range as they have become accustomed to the designer living lifestyle.
Pussa and Soph aim to source and make as many of their products in Australia as possible, and they have a strong preference toward the use of quality natural materials, like wool yarn, wool felt, bamboo and wood. They, along with lots of their feline friends, have personally tested everything in the range.
The Bosses
Pussa – Head of Product Innovation

Pussa was originally known as Wendy until her adoption by the Pet Parents in 2009 at 12 months old and after having had a litter of 3 kittens. The name Wendy didn’t seem to quite fit, and because the Pet Parents couldn’t decide on an alternative, she was stuck with a generic name. You can be unlucky in the parental lottery.
Pussa considers herself to be top cat of the family and is often also referred to as The Villain, Bad Cat or The Bully subsequent to frequent displays of devil-like behaviour. At Cat Habitat she is the Head of Product Innovation and devotes considerable time each day to testing the fun-ness and durability of the product range. When Pussa is not at work she enjoys rolling around on the warm balcony tiles, eating (anything) and “helping” her Pet Parents in the kitchen. Pussa does not enjoy going to the vet.
Soph – Head of HR

Soph joined the family in 2010 at 2 years old because Pet Parents can’t stop at one right? Sadly, Soph had been returned to the rescue agency by her first adoptive family but eventually the Pet Parents arrived and she found her furever home.
Much more of a chilled out individual than Pussa, Soph is the chatterbox of the family and most particular about her appearance – there is never a whisker out of place on Soph. She is always concerned about the location and welfare of all the family members, so it was only natural that Soph would be appointed Head of HR at Cat Habitat. Outside of work hours Soph likes to sit on piles of paper, eat, and sleep on her Pet Parent’s bed. Soph’s dislikes are having her claws clipped, and being picked up by humans.
